St. Mora is a harmonising recall delay effect inspired by medieval music. Its echoes follow your playing a fifth or fourth away, inspired by the earliest church harmony (organum), and it keeps a 28-second memory of what you play so the delay can bring back phrases from earlier in your performance in surprising ways with it's fragmentation feature.

It's perfect for for cinematic, ambient, rock/indie, electronic and choral music, and it works on any source from guitar and voice to synths.

Overview

  • Three delay styles: PLAINSONG gives a plain echo, ORGANUM harmonises the echoes a fifth or fourth away, and HOCKET moves the echoes between the left and right channels
  • Reverse echoes: setting the DIRECTION switch to RETROGRADE plays the echoes backwards
  • 28-second memory: the MEMORY control reaches into what you played, so the echoes can bring back earlier phrases
  • AGE control: scatters fragments from across that memory, from none at zero to a shower of pieces from different moments at full
  • Five controls: TIME, REPEATS, MEMORY, AGE and MIX, alongside the STYLE and DIRECTION switches
  • Reactive and expressive interface: the artwork animates as you turn each control
  • Low CPU use: very light on CPU, works at every sample rate and buffer size, with a resizable window and every setting saved with your project
  • Formats: VST3, AU, AAX and Standalone on Mac; VST3, AAX and Standalone on Windows; VST3 and Standalone on Linux
  • Perpetual licence: royalty-free use, with no subscription and no iLok or activation required

Three delay styles

St. Mora has three delay styles, each named after a term from medieval music. PLAINSONG is a plain echo. ORGANUM harmonises the echoes, sounding a fifth or fourth away from what you play, in the manner of the earliest church harmony. HOCKET moves those echoes between the left and right channels.

Setting the DIRECTION switch to RETROGRADE plays the echoes backwards. TIME and REPEATS shape the echoes, and MIX blends the delay with your dry signal.

Memory and age

St. Mora keeps a 28-second memory of everything you play. The MEMORY control reaches into it, so the echoes can bring back phrases from earlier in your performance.

The AGE control scatters fragments from across that memory. At zero there are none, and as you turn it up, pieces from different moments drift into the delay until, at full, they fall as a shower of fragments.

Reactive and expressive interface

Each control animates the artwork as you use it. TIME sends the saint's eyes sideways, MEMORY makes her weep, MIX brings the lilies into bloom, AGE ages her face into that of an old woman and REPEATS sends halo echoes rippling outwards behind her.

Made for

St. Mora turns a simple melodic line into a harmonised motif, with echoes sounding a fifth and fourth away. ORGANUM builds parallel harmonies from a single note. With MEMORY and AGE raised, textural and melodic parts gain fragments of earlier phrases that drift back into the music; great for ambient music and atmospheric scoring.

More Fabula effects

Dungeon Dude: Dark Reverb Fuzz. Dungeon Dude is a dark reverb with a custom-built fuzz. It offers Cathedral and Dungeon reverbs alongside six convolution spaces, with a fuzz in front of the reverb that ranges from light grit to a crumbling, saturated roar.

Haeloc's Crook: Ambient Looper. Haeloc's Crook is an ambient looper that continuously records the last 64 seconds of your playing. It can loop any moment and let it evolve over time, or freeze it into a sustained drone.

Rare combination

Beautifully designed, both the sound and the interface. That is a rarer combination than it should be and while some people could say the art is a gimmick, for me it just boosts the inspiration.

Response from the team

Really appreciate that, Fin.

Constant starting point

The sounds in this thing are so good for inspiration. It has become my default starting point when the page is blank.

It looks incredible and every preset is usable as it is. I have hardly needed to tweak anything.

Unique and stunning

One of the most unique instruments in my collection, and the artwork is honestly stunning. It feels like an object rather than a plugin.

Replaced three plugins

This quietly replaced three plugins on my effects bus as they’re built in here. Cleaner sessions and a more creativity to boot

Past and future in one

It’s not a ERA 2 or super high end library for authentic medieval instrument sound with loads of articulations but it’s got some impressive sonic capabilities and more importantly for me it makes me writes tracks - which the others don’t always do!

One chord and I was writing

Very good. Loaded it up, played one chord and immediately started writing. That basically never happens with a new plugin.

Response from the team

Love hearing this, thanks Dave.

No notes

Lovely to look at, barely touches my CPU, and it sounds like medieval times. No notes.

I own a lot of libraries and this is the one I reach for first every single time when I need something a bit weird to jolt me out of a rut

Every preset is a song

Every preset in here is a song waiting to happen. I have started three tracks this week just browsing.

Expansive sounds!

The sampled material is so characterful. You can hear the rooms in the reverb which is nice for an board effect. as well as having the expansive granular sound which is exactly what I wanted.

Sold on the sound, kept for the look

Worth it for the sound alone, but honestly the artwork is what pushed me over the line.

The flutter is perfect

The wow and flutter is the most convincing I have used, and the interface makes it fun to push rather than fiddly.

Now part of my template

Bought this for one project and now it sits on every template. That is the highest praise I can give! The arps are my go to. And man! That artwork is stunning.

Brilliant, with one small wish

Sounds fantastic and the artwork is a huge part of why I bought it. Only reason it is not five stars is that I would love a few more percussion patches in there. Everything else is spot on.

Beautiful to use

The UI is genuinely gorgeous. The marginalia are so beautiful. I leave it open on my second screen just to look at it while I work.

On nearly every track since

Bought it on a whim and it has ended up on nearly every track since. The presets alone are worth the money.

Response from the team

Thanks Priya, so glad it earned a permanent slot.
