About the Music
Why medieval and fantasy music?
Medieval and fantasy music occupies a unique space in scoring and production. It carries emotional weight, historical atmosphere, and a sense of world that very few other genres can match. We started Fabula Audio because we believed there was a gap in the market for a boutique label focused entirely on this world, built with the same care and attention to detail that professional composers, producers, and game developers expect from their libraries.
How would you describe the Fabula Audio sound?
Our catalogue sits between music and sound design. We are not interested in pastiche or generic period recreation. Every release is built around a specific creative concept, whether that is the weight of war drums, the intimacy of a sacred choir, or the particular atmosphere of 1980s dark fantasy cinema. The result is music that feels deliberate and distinctive rather than generic.
How often do you release new packs?
We release new packs and bundles regularly. The best way to stay across new releases is to sign up to our mailing list or follow us on our social channels.
How the Music is Made
Do you use AI in your productions?
Yes. Live musicianship, live ensemble performance, DAW AI workflows, generative AI, synths, VSTis, and hardware synths are embraced symbiotically across the catalogue in whatever way the music demands. The balance of tools shifts from release to release and track to track, always guided by the same creative standards and the same goal: the best sounding music we can make for your projects.
Do you use real musicians?
Yes. Live musicianship and live ensemble performance are part of how we build the catalogue, alongside generative AI, synths, VSTis, and hardware synths. The combination varies across releases.
Do you use software instruments and synthesisers?
Yes. Synths, VSTis, and hardware synths are core tools across the catalogue, particularly in our dark fantasy releases where analogue warmth and modern synthesis sit alongside more traditional instrumentation.
What are the stems and how were they separated?
Stems are the individual component parts of each track, delivered alongside the full mix. Our stems are often AI-separated from the master recordings and delivered wet, meaning the original reverbs, compression, and effects are retained. They carry the character and spatial depth of the source material and are designed for layering, processing, and creative manipulation rather than as clinically dry, individually recorded session parts. They work particularly well for producers and composers who want distinctive source material to reshape within their own sessions.
Why are the stems delivered wet rather than dry?
The effects and processing applied during production are part of the Fabula Audio sound. Delivering stems wet means you get the character, atmosphere, and spatial depth of the original recordings rather than a stripped back version that loses what makes the music distinctive. For producers working with texture and atmosphere, wet stems offer more immediate creative value.
