Haeloc's Crook is an intelligent ambient looper that continuously records the last 64 seconds of your playing. You can loop any moment from that memory and let the loop evolve a little more with each pass, or freeze a single moment into a sustained, shimmering drone.
It is designed for ambient, cinematic, rock/indie, experimental and drone musicians and for composers who build atmospheric beds or want new musical ideas drawn from their own playing. This effect is an idea-generating, atmospheric powerhouse.
Overview
64-second memory: Haeloc's Crook is always listening and keeps the last 64 seconds of everything you play
Looping from memory: LOOP takes a slice from 0.1 to 16 seconds long, set by SIZE, ending up to 47 seconds back, set by SCAN
Evolving loops: with EVOLVE raised, steps of the loop move to other notes from your recording, reverse, change speed by an octave or a fifth, drop out or stutter, a little more with each pass
WANDER and RETURN modes: choose whether the loop drifts away for good or keeps returning to what you originally played
Spectral freeze: FREEZE holds any moment as a sustained, shimmering drone, with UNISON, OCTAVE or FIFTH layers
BLOOM control: shapes the drone's motion, blur, wander and tone
Note detection: when you press LOOP or FREEZE after you stop playing, it captures your notes and leaves out silence and hiss
Five controls: SIZE, SCAN, EVOLVE, BLOOM and MIX, alongside the layer and WANDER/RETURN switches and the LOOP and FREEZE footswitches
Reactive and expressive interface: the artwork animates as you turn each control
Low CPU use: very light on CPU, works at every sample rate and buffer size, with a resizable window and every setting saved with your project
Formats: VST3, AU, AAX and Standalone on Mac; VST3, AAX and Standalone on Windows; VST3 and Standalone on Linux
Perpetual licence: royalty-free use, with no subscription and no iLok or activation required
Haeloc's Crook: Ambient Looper Demo
Looping from memory
Haeloc's Crook listens to your playing intelligently. When you press LOOP, it takes a slice of its 64-second memory and loops it. SIZE sets the length of the slice, from 0.1 to 16 seconds, and SCAN sets how far back the slice ends, up to 47 seconds ago. Because it is always recording, you can press LOOP after you have finished playing. It finds the notes you played and leaves out the silence and hiss.
Evolving loops
The EVOLVE control changes the loop a little more with each pass. Steps of the loop can move to other notes from your recording, reverse, change speed by an octave or a fifth, drop out or stutter, so the loop keeps developing as it plays.
The WANDER and RETURN switch decides how far the changes go. In WANDER mode the loop drifts away from where it started, and in RETURN mode it keeps finding its way back to what you originally played.
Spectral freeze
Pressing FREEZE holds any moment as a sustained, shimmering drone. The layer switch adds UNISON, OCTAVE or FIFTH layers to the drone, and the BLOOM control shapes its motion, blur, wander and tone. MIX blends the effect with your playing.
Reactive and expressive interface
Each control animates the artwork as you use it. SIZE leans the shepherd's crook, SCAN turns his eyes, EVOLVE lifts the lamb's head, BLOOM grows flowers in the grass and MIX multiplies the stars.
Made for
Haeloc's Crook is built for generating ideas, creating instant-atmosphere, or making epic drones and beds from any material. A short melodic phrase can become a slowly changing loop that runs beneath a whole piece, and a single held moment can become a texture for ambient music or for film and game scoring. It also works as a source of ideas: raise EVOLVE and let the loop suggest new melodic and rhythmic variations drawn from your own playing.
More Fabula effects
Dungeon Dude: Dark Reverb Fuzz. Dungeon Dude is a dark reverb with a custom-built fuzz. It offers Cathedral and Dungeon algorithmic reverbs alongside six convolution spaces, with a fuzz in front of the reverb that ranges from light grit to a crumbling, saturated roar.
St. Mora: Harmonising Delay. St. Mora is a harmonising recall delay with a 28-second memory of what you play. Its echoes can harmonise a fifth or fourth away, move between the left and right channels, or play backwards.

It's old and new, and medieval and fantasy sound in one plugin - perfect for my projects!

Rare combination
Beautifully designed, both the sound and the interface. That is a rarer combination than it should be and while some people could say the art is a gimmick, for me it just boosts the inspiration.
Response from the team
Really appreciate that, Fin.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Dangerous for deadlines
Genuinely dangerous for my deadlines. I open it to check one sound and lose two hours.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Constant starting point
The sounds in this thing are so good for inspiration. It has become my default starting point when the page is blank.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Usable straight out of the box
It looks incredible and every preset is usable as it is. I have hardly needed to tweak anything.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Unique and stunning
One of the most unique instruments in my collection, and the artwork is honestly stunning. It feels like an object rather than a plugin.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Replaced three plugins
This quietly replaced three plugins on my effects bus as they’re built in here. Cleaner sessions and a more creativity to boot
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Past and future in one
It’s not a ERA 2 or super high end library for authentic medieval instrument sound with loads of articulations but it’s got some impressive sonic capabilities and more importantly for me it makes me writes tracks - which the others don’t always do!
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
One chord and I was writing
Very good. Loaded it up, played one chord and immediately started writing. That basically never happens with a new plugin.
Response from the team
Love hearing this, thanks Dave.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
No notes
Lovely to look at, barely touches my CPU, and it sounds like medieval times. No notes.

First thing I reach for
I own a lot of libraries and this is the one I reach for first every single time when I need something a bit weird to jolt me out of a rut
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Every preset is a song
Every preset in here is a song waiting to happen. I have started three tracks this week just browsing.

Expansive sounds!
The sampled material is so characterful. You can hear the rooms in the reverb which is nice for an board effect. as well as having the expansive granular sound which is exactly what I wanted.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Sold on the sound, kept for the look
Worth it for the sound alone, but honestly the artwork is what pushed me over the line.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
The flutter is perfect
The wow and flutter is the most convincing I have used, and the interface makes it fun to push rather than fiddly.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Now part of my template
Bought this for one project and now it sits on every template. That is the highest praise I can give! The arps are my go to. And man! That artwork is stunning.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Brilliant, with one small wish
Sounds fantastic and the artwork is a huge part of why I bought it. Only reason it is not five stars is that I would love a few more percussion patches in there. Everything else is spot on.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Goes on everything
I use this on modern pop and my cinematic work! t has a futuristic but ancient retro character which suits my producer style
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
Beautiful to use
The UI is genuinely gorgeous. The marginalia are so beautiful. I leave it open on my second screen just to look at it while I work.
Hark VST Founder’s Edition
On nearly every track since
Bought it on a whim and it has ended up on nearly every track since. The presets alone are worth the money.
Response from the team
Thanks Priya, so glad it earned a permanent slot.

The artwork and the sounds in this thing are super good for inspiration. I opened it for five minutes and came out with a whole new project idea.
