Hark! Heraldic & Legendary Expansion Pack

30 new cards carry Hark! beyond its central collection and into a world of royal courts, painted shields, ceremonial banners and island monasteries.

Heraldic & Legendary is shaped primarily by bowed and chamber strings, Cornett, Shawm, Recorder, Bagpipes and other winds. Lute, Cittern, Harp and Psaltery add plucked detail, while five arpeggiating presets bring movement to its processions, ceremonies and heraldic calls.

The result is a collection that can sound stately and composed, weathered and distant, or quietly unsettled beneath its courtly surface.

Heraldic & Legendary reveals the courts, noble houses and disputed histories of Hark!’s richly detailed fantasy world. Ceremonies held beneath painted banners, processions crossing old kingdoms and signals travelling between distant settlements. The collection reaches beyond pageantry: among its brighter calls and stately strings lie sour omens, fading orders, mysterious glyphs and relics from lands already beginning to fracture.

Every preset has its own fixed collectable card, original illustration, title, card type, rarity and piece of lore.

STRINGS, WINDS AND HERALDIC CALLS

Bowed and chamber strings form one half of the expansion’s central voice. Use them for stately melodic passages, weathered ensembles, suspended harmony and shifting atmospheric beds. Ensemble mode introduces subtle detuning and offset voices, helping repeated notes and sustained tones move with a less mechanical character.

Winds and pipes form the other half. Cornett, Shawm, Recorder, Bagpipes and Woodwinds provide direct instrumental colour, ceremonial calls and plaintive melodic voices. These sources are transformed into something more distant through Hark!’s granular engine, Reverse, Randomise and effects.

PLUCKED MOVEMENT AND COURTLY PATTERNS

Lute, Cittern, Harp, Psaltery and other plucked strings bring detail and movement to the collection. Five arpeggiating presets turn those timbres into measured courtly patterns, travelling figures and loose rhythmic passages. Some move with ceremonial precision. Others feel more worn, unstable or hand-played.

Use Chord Lock to place complex harmony beneath a single key, then send it through the Arpeggiator. Strum, swing, humanise, rubato and roll can move the result away from a rigid grid and towards something more fluid.

BEYOND THE COURT

Heraldic & Legendary is not simply a collection of fanfares and noble themes. Drones, ambience, Chapel Organ and transformed instrumental textures bring shadow and space to the pack. Slow Drift Freeze can hold a brief bowed or wind recording in suspension, creating evolving tones that continue to shift beneath sustained notes.

Storm, Tape FX, Delay and Reverb can place those sounds in worn chambers, distant halls and weathered landscapes. ADSR controls move them between clear instrumental attacks, slow swells and disappearing tails.

A ceremonial wind can become an ambient bed. A bowed phrase can become a drone. A plucked pattern can dissolve into a strange, repeating texture.

The cards of Heraldic & Legendary explore noble Factions, painted shields, church objects, maps, Relics, Abilities and uncertain Omens. The word “Legendary” refers to the houses, histories and legends depicted throughout the expansion's lore. 

Every copy contains the same complete 30-card set. There are no randomised contents or blind digital purchases.

INSTALLATION

Heraldic & Legendary requires Hark! Open the pack browser inside Hark!, choose Import Pack and select the downloaded expansion file. The same pack file works with supported Mac, Windows and Linux installations. All 30 presets and cards will then appear inside the instrument.
